On getting the letter his wife left for Peshawar and reached there safely. The barrack was about 15-16 kilometres away from that station. On getting down at the station, the young lady hired a horse-drawn carriage. she was young, beautiful and powerful too. The Punjabi women are not at all physically weak. During their childhood days, they are made to suck milk from the udder of the buffalo. anyway, the young lady went to hathimaidan all alone and there being no other passenger, she agreed to bear the total fare of the carriage. Both the Pathans ordered the lady, “Take off all the jewellery, worn by you and then we will let you off.”
The woman realised, that if she declined to do so, they would forcibly rob her of her ornaments. Getting down from the carriage, she began to take off her ornaments and began throwing them to the dacoits. The second dacoit said, “Never think that you will be freed after you have taken off your ornaments. You have to go with us.”
