definite shelter, it cannot live all alone, and the newly-made canal is the shelter of the mind. sadhubaba therefore said, “Ektho khāt bānāni hogi tab manko ghuma sakegā.” he also added that the mind has to be turned inward, then established in the Paramatman and by means of meditation a canal has to be excavated. Then and then only, the mind will flow toward God and by means of practice it can be made stable and steadfast.
in course of this talk, sadhubaba added, if the mind gets impatient it can earn neither bliss nor peace. a disturbed mind can hardly realise anything or relish it properly. if the mind is unruffled, then it can feel proper peace and bliss. he then said, “The Atman is like the moon, and mind is like water. Thirst, like the air, is always disturbing the mind. Proper realization of peace can never be made by a disturbed mind. having forsaken every desire, when the mind is stable and transfixed in God, it can then realise real peace in it. and when the self-moon rises in the unruffled mind, the darkness of ignorance will be gone. at any cost, with no ripples, the mind has to be devoted to the Paramatman. This is called meditation and it has to be practised. For this reason, one has to renounce desires and ego and always practise meditation.
Baba said,
satata brahmaabhyāsa se, mala vikṣepa kā nāśa jñānadṛḍha nirvāsanā, jīvanmukti pratibhāsa
That means, by daily practising meditation, one can have himself cleansed of everything evil and in the process the mind will be free from desires and on having proper realization it would be free from earthly life.
True it is that practise is the only way, but how to practise it? Baba offered suggestions, “Every time you meditate on Brahman, but very few family men can do it. Those who count the rosary and shoo away the cat can hardly meditate on Brahman. On being asked about it, Baba said, ‘One cannot practise meditation on Brahman in a day or a year. if one practices it slowly and steadily, a time
