also informed us that like those sadhus he too used to collect food from various alms houses to feed himself.
after the food distribution, Baba with his close associates sat down to have his meal on the sands of the holy Ganga. We also accompanied him. after the meal ended we went to the Dharma sabha. We had some spiritual discussions with him. a few bhaktas begged Baba for some medicine. Baba said, “Mother, what medicine do you want? For the body or the mind?” i laughed and said that even my Guru Maharaj says that worry and sickness are of two types. There is a possibility of getting well when one has the medicine of a doctor to treat him physically but the mind’s worry can only be treated by Sadhana and satsang.
My husband had once questioned Pandit sadhu shri shri swarupanandji, “how does the difference between the Jivatma and Paramatman go away? “is this difference erased if monasticism is followed? shri shri swarupanandji then said,” Clothes can be clearly coloured if they are white and pure. Following ascetic simplicity in the beginning will create no effect. One should resort to dispassionate selfless acts, that is whatever you do should be done dispassionately with your mind bestowed to the Lord. if you have attachment then you will be bound. 1) Nishkam Karmayoga, 2) Sadhana with reverence, 3) Satsang and study of the Vedas, 4) To move on with patience and reasoning due to which the mind will be devoid of desires and pure. Then genuine monasticism will blossom. he had also said, “The mind is like a river. There are two types of currents. One is of desire and the other of well-being. Build genuine embankment of monasticism to stop the current of desire end carve a new canal through reverence and Sadhana to channelize your mind-stream towards Bhagavat bhakti or well-being. For this ‘Karuna’, ‘Upeksha’, ‘Maitri’, and ‘Mudita’ ‘Dhyanam’ needs to be practised. Through this the distinctive filth will be left behind.
