the oven was out of fire. The lady, on coming to that place, saw to her surprise that the snacks being prepared had been lost and that the King was picking them up from the ground to eat them. Enraged, the lady beat him hard with a piece of wood and as a result blood began to flow profusely. The words of anger and abuses, being hurled by the lady, brought many others to that place. some of those who gathered there could recognize their king and some others rushed to the Palace to relay the news. But the King did not take the lady otherwise. he instead isolated himself from the gathering and entered the ashram with a view to praying for the grace of the sage. This time the sage did not deprive the King of his grace. he initiated the King. The King on his part, by dint of iron determination, passion, piety and meditation had himself raised to a state of enlightenment.
having narrated the tale, Baba said, “Every good thing pre-sup- poses a resolute will, a calm mind, all passions spent. Enlightenment can hardly be achieved without unswerving willpower, perseverance and a lot of patience.”

tacciṃtana tatkathanaṃ ananyatvaṃ prabodhanam, ītadekaparatvaṃ ca brahmābhyāsa vidurbudhāḥ.
That is to say, thinking about That, speaking about That, enlight- ening about the uniqueness of That, being engrossed in That alone is declared by the wise ones as Brahmabhyasa.
Once one of the female disciples of Baba asked him, “What is forbidden to man?” in reply, Baba said, “Whatever is forbidden in the shastras is forbidden.”
Baba once advised one of his female disciples, “always speak the truth. Think good of others always. Forsake the habit of criticism. Forsake the kind of thought that seeks to do harm to others.
