 Second Taranga
Once Baba, in course of a discussion, said, “Once one enters family life, one is confronted with many a pain. and the more the days go by, the more he is entangled with bindings and
sufferings. at long last, at the time of death under the spell of death-swoon, he visualizes all he or she had confronted in course of life. it is due to inordinate desire for material gains that a man in his next birth gets plunged in the sea of sufferings. For this reason only, one has to detach himself from things worldly and to say to himself, ‘i am pure, enlightened, detached and free—i myself am the embodiment of soul, full of bliss—why should i remain in bondage under things material? i must break the fetters of attachment. One has to think in this light. if one thinks deeply and repetitively, it remains fixed in the core of the heart, and automatically he gets himself divorced from things worldly and thus he is freed from the agony of rebirth. This is how a man can save his soul. One can hardly enjoy freedom without enlightenment.”.
Baba also said, if one forsakes his family life outwardly, he gains nothing. Detachment of mind from things petty and worldly makes one free in its truest sense. One who wears a cloth of saffron colour and is engrossed with things petty and worldly enjoys nothing.
On 8th Vaisakh, after having had a bath in the Padma, Baba sat down to read a book, written by Kavi Golap singh. We all made our floral offerings at his feet and paid our pranam. Baba thereafter read out a ‘Doha’ from that book of Kavi Golap singh.
When we asked him about its meaning, he said—those who are proud of being great sages may have a miserable fall if they get attached to things petty and material. One boastful at heart gets automatically under the spell of attachment. according to Kavi Golap singh, only those who are ignorant get boastful at heart. One who is really a sage, wise and noble at heart is cleansed of all boasts and becomes humble at heart. Unless there is total detachment, one cannot be really virtuous and pious.
