such a plight of his is because of his ignorance. in fact, he himself has got entangled.
We get frightened without any definite cause. if we remain patient and unconcerned, many a mishap or danger is automatically overcome. To ratify this point of view, Baba told us a tale.
a businessman had a daughter, aged seven or eight. On the day of the Dole Purnima, the girl got a pot of water, mixed with colour, left it beneath her father’s charpai (Bed) and fell asleep. What she had exactly desired to do was that she would get up in the morning and play with the coloured water. But before she got up, her father went out with that pot of water to respond to the call of Nature. as he was about to return, his eyes got caught at the coloured pot. scared, he thought, “since much of my blood has shed, there is no hope of my life.”
scared, he returned home, sent for his sons and told them that he was going to die. his sons called in a physician but it was all in vain. Gradually, his body showed signs of weakness. The girl on the other hand got up from her bed and went for the pot of coloured water. Finding it nowhere, she asked her father, “Where is the pot of coloured water i had kept under your cot?”
Then and then only was the illusion of the man gone. he felt nothing wrong in his body and he got up steadily.
since a human thinks that he is under the spell of illusion and that he is always in chains, he gets entangled in illusion. But he is indeed not under the spell of illusion, he is free, he has a pure soul within him. if he thinks this way, he can be free from illusion.
Baba said, if the mind is kept detached and free from temp- tation, he can realize God in him. Ostentatious display of clothes and ornaments does nothing, it is the mind that plays the most important role. it does not matter whether you are a family man or live in the cave of a mountain.
