One day Baba said,
धैयजि, धमजि, समत्र अरु िािी आपद्काल पिफ़खये चािी
dhairya, dharma, mitra aru nārī āpadkāla parakhiye cārī
it is during a crisis, these four things—Patience, religion, friend and wife—stand tested.
Baba said, the climate of Bengal is very humid which reduces the digestive power of people living there. The less humidity in the air, the better is the digestive power. in place of both fish and meat, if one takes pure milk, he will acquire more strength as well as physical beauty.
On some other day, Baba said, habit is the second nature and hence it is too difficult to eschew it. By way of an example he said, a sage got down into a pond to have a bath. suddenly his eyes caught sight of a dying scorpion in the water. Very carefully he wanted to take it out of the water to the bank, but it was about to award him a sting instead. On seeing it, another man said, “Please do not take it out of the water. Let it die by drowning.” The sage retorted, “The scorpion, in spite of having fallen into the water, has not forsaken its habit. But why should i forsake mine?” With these words, the sage took it to the bank
Once Baba told us a tale about two friends. Gurumukh was the name of the one, while Manomukh was the name of the other. Once two of them were walking along a field. it was afternoon then. Gurumukh felt very thirsty. Manomukh said, “There is a well yonder, let us go there.” They went to the well but the water was too deep. There was no pot or rope to take water out of it. Manomukh then said, “Let us do something. You take off your turban, then hold one of its ends tightly. Then allow me to help you get down into the well very slowly and carefully and thereafter i will pull you out of it.”
