Kumari, the wife of Pramadanath, the King of Dighapatia) owned a palatial building, known as ‘Giribilash’. Baba was to put up there, but he refused. But being unable to avoid the request of my husband, Baba paid a visit to that house for a few hours on 21st Jaistha. at the time when Baba was preparing to return to Jasidih via Kolkata, my elder sister requested Baba through letters and telephone calls to pay a visit to her house at Dighapatia. it was the 23rd of Vaisakh. Two days prior to that, we too complied with her request by reaching her place.
Baba refused to put up in the mansion. he instead preferred to put up at a cottage on the bank of the big pond. The cottage overlooked the water on three sides and Baba preferred staying over there. sriman Kumar Pratibhanath (the eldest son of King Pramadanath and the present King) attended and served Baba always by staying by his side.
in the afternoon, we entreated avadhoot hujuranandaji to tell us an incident of his personal life. avadhootji was by nature reserved and a man of few words. When he realized that there was no escape from it, he could not but tell an incident of his life.
at that phase of his life, Baba was not allowed to put on anything but koupin. in order to attain the state of being an avadhoot, he had to roam about with only a koupin on for a period of twelve years. at that time he was spending a night at a place adjacent to a cremation ground in the Punjab. all of a sudden, his attention was drawn to a woman who was busy doing something with a fire. he was simply taken aback at the sight of it. Why was a woman alone in a cremation ground? Was she a human being at all? Out of curiosity, Baba went forward. he saw a woman preparing bread on the fire. at that time it was so
