Gouda, on seeing the scene from above his rooftop, asked sanatan, “how is it that many a man is following a Sannyasin? it is strange that there are none at my back! Does the Fakir pay remuneration to his devotees? sanatan said, “Nay. They instead offer inspiration”. The Emperor said, “What does he offer them?”
sanatan said in reply, “Nothing at all.” The Emperor said, “as for me, if i fail to pay them for a day or two, they leave us. and if i fail to pay for a period of six years, they revolt. and how strange! What a tremendous power he has exerted on his followers !”
similarly, when our Baba goes to any place, he too is followed by a great many disciples of his. Baba does not offer anything to them, they instead offer Baba so much that all the people who have assembled there fail to finish it. Whatever best is available in the market, whatever pure and delicious prepared at home is heartily and reverently offered to Baba and he on his part takes a bit of it and distributes everything among the devotees present on that occasion.
On reaching there, we saw our Baba sitting on a separate aasana and offering his advice to the holy assembly. There was no sign of time having taken a toll on him. Baba is as he was seen ten years ago by us. Little can time have a sway over one who embodies self-mortification.
On seeing us in a state of mourning, Baba advised us saying there was indeed no death of Guru. Guru is Omnipresent, immanent and immortal. The best way to serve your Guru is to emulate his path and to fervently try to follow the path charted out by him. The human body is subject to death and decay, so it is no use crying over it. it is worthwhile to worship and to meditate on a thing permanent and perennial.”
These words of advice assuaged our bereaved heart, and we returned home the day after. Baba too left for Darjeeling thereafter. a palatial building was kept reserved for Baba to put up, but he declined to stay there. he also declined to stay in the city of Darjeeling, because the city is a place of greed and desires. he then put up in the forest at the foothills of the himalayas. Baba had the innate power to find a proper place for a Sannyasin to live in.
