Our Baba, too, was a great sage, avowed to ‘advaitism’. he too was careful to teach us this lesson of ‘Brahmagyan’. in course of a discussion and exhortation on the said topic, he told us many a tale and made religious teachings. But we are too poor to cast aside our ‘egoism’. Mahatma harnath Thakur said, the whole responsibility is with egoism. The moment this ‘egoism’ is gone, the feeling of ‘you’ is born. it is ‘you’ who embodies Brahma. Without you, there is no existence of ‘i’, no existence of this world. To drive this point home into our heart, Baba told us a doha:
तुं तंु किता, तंु ही िहा, मुझमें िही िा हूँ। बललहािी तेिे रूप की, जीत देखँू ततत तूं॥
tuṃ tuṃ karatā, tuṃ hī rahā, mujhameṃ rahī nā hūṃ, balihārī tere rūpa kī, jīta dekhūṃ tita tūṃ.
That means, while chanting ‘tumih’ repetitively, i am but ‘tumih’. i find nothing more than ‘tumih’ in me. since my ‘aham (i-ness)’ is gone, i have got the ‘tumitah’ in me. Oh Lord! how exquisitely beautiful Thou art. Ye art Omnipresent. There is nothing in the world except Ye.
Where art Thou? i find Ye nowhere around me. Everywhere i look, i find my near and dear ones, everywhere i look, i find my personal wealth and my egoism. i find Ye nowhere. if the words of the great souls are right, if Ye prevail everywhere, please appear before me so that i can see you among the people i see and in the things i look at. Bless me and my soul, O my Lord.
