Second Taranga
Once Baba told me, “in the teeth of danger, do not cow down. i mean to say, be neither impatient nor worried. it is patience that proves to be the means of escape from danger. When, for
example, a storm breaks out, our face gets covered or soiled with dirt and dust, similarly at the time of crisis if you head towards danger, you will find no escape from it. instead, you need to have patience and overcome the crisis with all judiciousness. impatience begets inconvenience and it ultimately invites harm. if, for example, a huge piece of stone lands on the hand of a man, he needs to take out his hand slowly and tactfully. if one hastens, then he will suffer bruises and injuries which may result in severe wounds. Baba then said, “Everything is temporary. Take it for granted that danger does not last long. Just as the whole world gets dusted at the outbreak of a storm, similarly everything gets quietened and clear when the storm ceases. in the same way, if you remain quiet and have patience when danger overtakes you, then it is he who will help you find the way out. it is at that point of time that the sky of life will be cleared of the clouds, thereby paving the way for peace and happiness.
since man is under the sway of Maya’, little does he think that he is a ‘Nityamukta Chaitanya’. To drive this point home into our heart, Baba one day told us a tale:
Once a lion took shelter in the dense field of sugar-cane just before the evening fell. a group of men were working on one side of that field. as the evening drew near, the owner of the field kindly said to them, “Evening is drawing near, now you please go home.” On hearing these words, they went home with the equipment they had. The lion, on seeing the people leaving the field, thought to himself, “The farmers, i am sure, have taken note of the fact that i am here in their field. Despite knowing it, they did not feel afraid. instead they went on with their work. and the moment they heard about the approaching evening, they got afraid and left for home. Evening therefore is even more powerful than i. so it would be
