paper. he then gave a piece of lemon to the mid-wife and told her to just throw it out of the door as an indication that the child was born. and that would determine the exact time of birth of the baby. The mid-wife forcefully threw the piece of lemon out of the door, but the lemon struck against the door, rebounded and returned to the labour-room. The midwife who was busy with the mother and her baby picked up the lemon. she collected it and threw it once again. This time the lemon came out of the door and let the astrologer know about the time of birth of the baby. But by that time the star under whose supervision the child was born was replaced by another. The astrologer, not knowing what happened indoors made a calculation that if the baby was born exactly when the lemon was thrown out from within the room then he would be the killer of his father or if had a look at the new-born babe he would die a premature death. since the child, as per the astrological calculation, was born during ‘Gandayoga’, either he or his father was sure to die. But such a destiny might be averted if there was no meeting between the father and his new-born babe. after much calculation, the astrologer, in stead of sacrificing his son, left him for good.
The new-born baby began to grow gradually in the way the new-moon waxes. he now grew up to his boyhood. The people of his village got amazed at his beauty and intelligence. The teachers who loved him most made him into a great scholar. On reaching his youth, he began to study astrology. The rare books, left by his father, were kept preserved in his house. he went through all of them. in course of time, the boy proved himself to be the greatest astrologer of the land.
Thereafter he decided to make a frantic search for his father. although his mother prevented him from doing it, he told her, “i have made an astrological calculation and i am sure that my father is still alive. in course of time i will be able to meet him and i hope i will return home accompanied by him.”
The mother did not restrain her son. instead with a heart full of hope and joy, she allowed him to go his way. On being sure of where his father was staying, as per the calculations he had
