“Our sons told us to leave the house,” replied the man.
hardly had the Vaishya said this words, when his wife came running to the house of the Brahmin crying. On being asked what had happened to her, she said, “Both of my sons and their wives have hit me hard and driven me out. Even my younger grand-son was about to strike me with a stick. One who was lulled to sleep, close to my heart, one whom i fed things at my own cost, one for whom i had prayed to God is now, in company with his parents, threatening me with a big stick at this senile stage of mine. Oh God! Why did i pray to God with tearful eyes for a son and a grandson?”
Mahadev admitted, “i regret having prayed to God for a son. i might have remained contented with what i had been. how foolish i had been by praying for a son to God!”
Both the Brahmin and his wife stood mum. although the desire they had in their heart of hearts died down, the root remained therein intact. They thought, “Not that our son could have been that harsh and rough.”
in fact, the root of desires remains firm in the human heart. however, a feeling of detachment kills the desires. and a feeling of detachment is but the fruit of meditation and prayer for a pretty long time.
Once our Guru Maharaj. advised us saying, “Remain contented at every walk of life. Remain absorbed in the holy thought of Paramatma. Take care so that your mind is not disturbed or distracted.”
To make this point clear, our Guru Maharaj cited an example. Once Mahapurush sanatkumar was in a state of meditation. it was a solitary place with hills and mountains all around—the most favourite place of Mahadev. Once Mahadev was having a walk in company with his wife Parvati in that desolate place. sanat Kumar’s meditation broke but he was yet to be conscious of the world around. When sanatkumar was in that state of half-meditation, it seemed to him that the Lord of Lords, shankar, accompanied by Parvati, was about to vanish. since he was not careful about it and he had not paid due reverence to Mahadev, Parvati got angry
