and in course of time, sanat Kumar was born of a sudra mother. But due to his meditation, done in his previous life, he was born a prodigy who could remember his previous life. he used to remain absorbed in meditation. Once Bhagavati descended on earth to know about how sanat Kumar was spending his days on earth. she asked him, “how are you spending your time here, you
the boastful Rishi?”
sanat said, “i am all right here by your grace, revered Mother.” sankari said, “since you are born of an inferior kind of mother,
are you ashamed of it?”
sanat replied, “No, not at all. i am instead fine here on earth.
had i been born of a superior kind of mother, i should have to do a good many rituals of higher caste, and much time would have been lost in doing those things. i am now free from those duties. so, much of my time i devote to my meditation. By your grace, my revered Mother, i am all right here. i am always in a state of bliss only because of my meditation.”
sankari said, “i see, it is no curse at all. i ask you to be born once again of a camel mother.”
On being cursed by Bhagavati, sanat Kumar was born of a camel. But he remained a prodigy, remembering his previous birth. as long as he was in Devaloka, he used to remain absorbed in meditation and here on earth too he was having bliss by means of remaining absorbed in meditation.
Once Bhagavati, out of curiosity, got close to sanat Kumar in the form of a camel and asked him, “how are you now enjoying your state, sanat Kumar?”
sanat said, “Revered Mother, i am all the more happy. how gracious you are my revered Mother!”
sankari said, “What is the source of your bliss and happiness?”
sanat replied, “it is my absorption in the thought and meditation of God that earns me both bliss and happiness. When i was born of a sudra mother, i had some duties to perform, and in the process much of my time got lost. Now that i am born of a camel mother, i have an infinite period of time at my disposal to remain absorbed
