see that the son of alarka was eligible enough to be enthroned, they should teach alarka the lesson of renunciation in order to make him renounce family life. if it so happened that alarka was dead against detachment from family life, steps be taken secretly and carefully to have him detached. so instructed by the mother, the elder brother had been waiting for the opportune moment. The moment they heard that alarka was all engrossed with sons, daughters and grandchildren, they returned to their native land and met alarka in person, but their efforts proved to be abortive. alarka was the last person to have detached himself from the life of luxury.
With no other alternative left, the brothers then devised a plan. They invited all the princely kings and raised a huge army and invaded the palace of alarka. Frightened, alarka sought for a counsel of his ministers and the Commander-in-chief. Neither of the groups offered him a word of hope. Frightened all the more, alarka began to think deeply if it would be right to surrender to his elder brothers. suddenly he remembered the talisman he had got from his mother. What might be more distressing or disastrous to use the talisman? This he thought. his life, his progenies as well as the national properties were at stake. Mother goddess could visualize it well ahead of time and probably for that reason she had offered him that talisman to save his life. With ‘pranam’ and prayer to the divine soul of his mother, he opened the talisman. he saw a Shloka written on the talisman and he read it out:
शुद्धोसस बुद्धोसस नििँजिधोऽसस सँसािमाया परिवर्जजितधोऽसस सँसािस्वप्ँ त्यज मधोहनिद्ाँ मदालसा माँ वाक्यमुवाच पुत्रम्।
śuddhosi               buddhosi               niraṃjano'si saṃsāramāyā                                             parivarjito'si saṃsārasvapnaṃ     tyaja      mohanidrāṃ madālasā māṃ vākyamuvāca putram,
