Third Taranga
Kailash was the name of the hill atop which nestled the ashram of the sage. it was nothing difficult to follow why it was so named. Jiva is shiva. Jiva doesn’t think itself to be different from Paramatman (i.e. God, the absolute). all the great sages believe that Paramatman is immanent and hence present in both the biotic and the abiotic. Neither life nor anything visible is different from the Paramatman. To make us understand this philosophy, one day the sage told us that the water of the Ganges, kept in a Kamandalam (i.e. a metal container for the Ganges water), is nothing but Ganges water. The ever-flowing Ganges and the Ganges water in the Kamandalam are indeed the Ganges. The only difference being—there is many a gem in the ever-flowing Ganges like the boats and the ships, while in the Kamandalam there is nothing as such. Get the Kamandalam broken, and the water within will flow into the Ganges. Thus then, the Kamandalam is the point of difference. The container is nothing but egoism, once it is broken every problem would be solved and everything would be all right. Once our revered Gurumaharaj ji shri shri Balananda Ji said, “Devote yourself to doing everything for God, offer your body, mind and all the properties you have to him and then will go away your egoism. shri shri Ramakrishna Paramhansdev also said, “Ami mole ghuchibe janjal,” meaning—all the vices within one shall die a natural death with the death of egoism.
Now allow me to tell you about the Kailash. On a very beau- tiful place it is located. There being no human habitation, it is open on all sides. To the far east are the railways, far from the railways are the Tapovan, the Trikut and some other big hills. To the south there are smaller hills and at their back are visibly the invisible the range of the Pareshnath. To the west is the Devagiri or the Dighariya, deep and dark with a dense forest on it. To the north is the range of mountains along the horizon. amidst such a picturesque scenery atop the Kailash is the Kailashpati.
at first the Kailashpati had no kitchen and therefore cooking was done in the open space. There used to be no cooking if it
