to him, he said, “if you agree to offer the outcome of the yagna, then i can accept your invitation”. The King, in reply, said, “it is to enjoy your favour that i’ve come to you on foot, at every step i’ve enjoyed thousands of outcome of the yagna. Please do me a favour by accepting all of them and the one i’m going to get out of this yagna.” Glad, the sage said, “You need not give anything, i’m gladly accepting your invitation.” On telling this tale, Baba recited a couplet:
संतसमलि कधो जाईये, त्यजी ममता अर्भमाि ज्ययों ज्ययों पग आगे धिे, त्ययों त्ययों यज्ञ समाि
saṃtamilana ko jāīye, tyajī mamatā abhimāna jyoṃ jyoṃ paga āge dhare, tyoṃ tyoṃ yajña samāna
The meaning being, if one wants to meet a sage or a monk, one has to give up both his attachment and vanity. Done so, he can enjoy the outcome of yagna at every step.
shri shri Guru Maharaj Balananda swami viewed the same. he added, “While going to meet the great soul of a sage, one has to have the bowl of his mind empty. if the bowl is full of pride or vanity, then how will he receive the gems of advice from the great soul?”
Fourth Taranga
in one of his talks, Baba told us that one who has satisfaction within himself is happy. Even if he is poor, he is more kingly than a king. One who has desires is poorer despite being the wealthiest.
With regard to anger, Baba said that it is of four different kinds. The anger of a sage or that of a good soul is temporary; he only roars but he is all sweetness at heart. More often than not, they cannot but express anger but that too for the good of
