to sustain themselves. They faced adversity since they did not get their required things as they did in the past. Yogiraj was distressed seeing their condition and thus wanted to bring them back to their former state. he sent four letters to the people there, to awaken them to the situation. he sent six and then eighteen letters to help them investigate the way to ‘Chintamani’. But those people were so enchanted by the five thugs that they did not wish to find the ‘Chintamani’ under layers of mud due to their laziness. Yogiraj then went from door to door trying to explain to them that they were facing adversity due to the absence of the real ‘Chintamani’. and they would be able to come out from their distress only if they were able to retrieve the real gem. Yet the people did not regain their consciousness as they had become extremely lazy.
Baba then explained that Yogiraj is God himself. he created this beautiful universe with people pure in their characters and resided in their heart in the form of ‘Chintamani’. after some days kama, krodha, lobha, moha, ahankar (lust, anger, greed, infatuation and pride), the five thugs came and acquired this world. People were so engrossed and infatuated with the worldly pleasures that they forgot the real ‘Chintamani’ in their heart—God. They did not try to explore the real gem within. Then God sent four Vedas for the good of the people. he then sent ‘Sharadarshan’ (six school of thoughts) and then eighteen Puranas. he expressed in them how the inner Brahman could be acquired through Sadhana. But mankind being under the spell of the five thugs and infatuated by worldly desires shunned labour. They gradually lost their wealth. he took birth as different Avataras to salvage mankind when they could not control their mind through Sadhana. some people gained accomplishment in Sadhana when they got the valuable and rare association of these Avataras and thus were able to gain the knowledge of the inner Brahman in the form of ‘Chintamani’. But the majority of men did not try. Man can turn into a state of Godliness if he can perform proper Sadhana laboriously, according to Baba.
When we were listening to Baba’s Kathamrita a fisherman came there with a huge fish in his hand. Baba understood our hesitation. he told us that there was no need for hesitation. When we asked
