prayer the sins, being committed by one, are put to death and in their place is born a purer and holier desire. The effect of suffering, consequent upon the doings in the previous birth, gets a little milder.”
Our Baba also added, “Desires are the sole cause of attachment and the consequent sufferings. With the renunciation of desires destiny dies. and one who can really renounce his earthly desires and attachments undergoes no birth.”
i questioned, “how to kill our ego?”
Baba replied, “Ego of a man is of two different kinds, bad ego and good ego. Whatever emotion is born out of riches, wealth and power is called bad ego. it is these vices that are the cause of earthly bindings. That i am eternal and pure and enlightened is but good ego. Or that i am but his servant, his son or his devotee is also good ego. Good ego is the passport to deliverance.”
i questioned, “how to get over our desires or thirst?”
he replied, “it is as much by understanding the matter of fact as by renunciation. it is really difficult to kill our desires.” sri Krishna told arjun in the Gita (3/39), “Desires are a constant threat to the wise man. The wisdom of human beings gets enveloped with the irresistible fire of desires. There is really no end to the desires of human beings. Until the desires are gone for good, no human can attain deliverance.” how these desires do an incalculable harm to us is clearly underlined by sri Krishna in the Gita (2/62/63). attachment is the product of desires for wealth and its association. it is out of an attachment to wealth that our desires are born. Out of attachment are born desires, and anger is born out of unfulfilled desires. The deeds to be done and proper understanding of things get stopped when in anger. and once understanding is lost one loses memory, out of loss of memory intelligence is lost and in the long run a man gets totally lost.
The kind of happiness that oozes out of acquisition of wealth, so said sri Bhagavan, is too petty, transient and no better than will-o’-the-wisp. it is as good as an empty clutch.
having said all this, our Baba told us a story. a man had a happy family with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, grandson etc
