“sants” and “Mahatmas” are like sandal Paste and “sansar”, (domes- tic life) is like serpent. The sandal paste besmears and soothes but does not cause any disfigurement, nor does it penetrate into the body. in “Kali Juga” the span of human life is short; therefore you have to speed up. “Tapasya” (holy meditation) and “Sadhana” (strenuous practice) are difficult, constant repetition of the name of God is the only means of salvation. however, one who searches within himself and tries to unravel as to who he is, is wiser than one who utters the name of “Rama” with the sound of drums and music in the midst of glamorous celebration. Without the beneficent help of a Guru you cannot gain wisdom (sagacity) or “Moksha.” (salvation), you cannot realise truth or quench your thirst for knowledge.
