all manifestations. Where are you searching for the divine when he is there in front of you in varied forms? The one who loves jiva actually serves shiva.)
Fourth Taranga
We are always inquisitive about how the sages get lost in meditation. My youngest daughter, Prafulla, repeatedly requested me, “ask our Baba if he gets lost in meditation.” One day, in course of a talk, i asked in a round-about way, “after a meditation of how many days did you have your Samādhi?” Replied he, “Dear mother, i am always in a state of Samādhi.”
When i asked Baba about the Samadhi of a Yogi (i.e.sage), Baba told us about the Samadhi of a wise man. The wise are always lost in Brahmananda (Divine bliss)—this absorption in Brahmananda is nothing but Samadhi—this is what we learnt from Baba. But we were inquisitive to view Samadhi in person. We found its fruition a few days later at the Karnibag ashram of our Guru,shri shri Balanandji Maharaj. One evening when the conches were being blown, bells were being rung in different temples, Stotras were being chanted, the ashrama reverberated with the divine melody of the holy disciples, shri shri Balanandaji Maharaj, our Guru Maharaj, was found lost in Samadhi in front of a Dhuni (a fire born out of piles of wood, generally done by the sages before Samadhi), beneath the huge Neem tree. With no breath, no movement of the body, he sat as still as a piece of rock. The very sight of Samadhi saw us in our seventh heavens. staying for a while there, we left for Jasidih. Later on, we heard that our Gurudev remained in that divine state for about a couple of hours.
One afternoon, our discussion centred round Gurubhakti (Devo- tion to Guru). Baba told us a story to make us realize that one
