knowledge disappears, pure happiness will reside in his heart. Every person in this world seems to suffer as a sick person till he or she gets in touch with the absolute doctor or vaidya. sant Kabir said that if the flames of separation can scorch the mind then only can one feel him.
Baba used to give a lot of good advice. “Confinement is the cause of attachment. One should immediately try to eliminate it the moment one feels any attachment arising in the mind. Because attachment is the root of all sufferings it is the main cause of rebirth. Baba had said that all those things created by Maya will inevitably be destroyed. Either the subject of attachment will leave you one day or you will leave when the time is up. Then suffering is inevitable.” Baba recited a Doha of Nanakji—
सचंता ताद्क कीर्जये, जधो अिहधोिी हधोय ए मािग संसाि कधो, िािक थथि िहीं कधोय
Chinta taki kijiye jo anhoni hoye, A marg sansar ko nanak thir nehi koi.
Nanakji said that this world is all mortal, ‘Chalne wala’, so one should think about the indestructible, eternal and permanent rather than the transient. Want him,—don’t ask for trivial things.” Paramhans sri Ramakrishna Deva prayed for pure devotion from Jagat Janani (Ma Kali). But the underprivileged people pray to him for wealth, children and pleasure. Once our Guru sri Balanandaji Maharaj said, “Bina mange moti mile, mange mile na bheekh.” if one does not ask for anything one might get a priceless pearl but will not even get alms if one begs.
Baba told us that we are so engrossed with illusions and temp- tations that we fail to realise our own self. To justify this viewpoint, he told us the following story:
a King had four queens, but none of them bore him a son. The King was therefore sad at heart at having no son of his own. at that point of time, a sage paid a visit to his court. The King
